TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught eighth grade math in Massachusetts 2010-2015. I spent Spring 2016 as a part-time math interventionist for grades 5-8. I enjoyed taking on a supporting role in the classroom and focusing my energy on working with small groups of struggling students, while also having more time at home with my family. Beginning Fall 2016, I will be staying home with my son and keeping my hand in education through my blog and my TpT store. I hold teaching certifications spanning grades 5-12 Mathematics in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom engages students in a variety of activities - from discovery-based learning to traditional approaches. I believe many students learn best when they have organized notes to refer back to but can engage with content in interesting ways.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I earned professional status in my school district in 2013. I was honored to teach full time with an amazing group of educators in a district ranked top 5% in Massachusetts.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with my BA in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Emmanuel College in 2010. I earned my M.Ed in Mathematics Education from Lesley University in 2013.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My husband and I welcomed our first baby boy to the world in April 2015. I started creating the Free to Discover curriculum during my maternity leave, and I now look forward to having additional time to focus on this passion. Email me at: freetodiscovermath@gmail.com
