I have been in education for 18 years. I started my career off in 1st grade and then moved to 4th grade. Presently, I serve K-5 students in Reading.
Students, no matter what age, deserve to have an education that is fun and engaging. I strive to create engaging, hands-on activities that challenge the kids and keep them motivated. I believe that all children can and should exceed our expectations. Additionally, teaching should provide differentiated instructional activities. Group activities are a plus and worksheets at a minimum.
I was named Teacher of the Year for 2018-19 at our school. After that, I was named a Top 10 teacher for our county.
I have a B.S. is in Elementary Education, a M.A. in Early Childhood Education, an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction. She also has a Reading Endorsement as well as a Teacher Support System Endorsement for mentoring purposes. I am currently working on my leadership certification. I believe in lifelong learning as the field of education constantly changes! I enjoy going to conferences to learn as much as possible from others. I have received training in Best Practices, Thinking Maps, RTI, and PLCs. I've attended many reading conferences including Lucy Calkins and Jennifer Serravallo.
