TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We are two educators who have taught for many years together. We started off in 1st grade and then moved to 4th grade. Christy has taught 5th grade specializing in Math & Science. She is currently teaching 4th grade again. Angie has been a reading specialist for the past three years, serving students in K-5.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Students, no matter what age, deserve to have an education that is fun and engaging. We strive to create innovative, hands-on activities that challenge the kids and keep them motivated. We believe that all children can and should exceed our expectations. We also believe that teaching should provide differentiated instructional activities. Group activities are a plus and worksheets at a minimum. Interactive notebooks are preferred for all subjects, as well as rubrics for all projects.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

We have both been nominated for teacher of the year several times, however, Christy received TOTY for 2014. She made it to the top 5 for the county! As of January 2016 we are officially a STEM certified school. We are the 14th elementary school in GA to receive this certification.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Angie has a B.S. is in Elementary Education, a M.A. in Early Childhood Education, an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction. She also has a Reading Endorsement as well as a Teacher Support System Endorsement for mentoring purposes. Christy earned her B.S. in Sociology, as well as her M.A. in Elementary Education. She also earned her English as a Second Language endorsement as well as a Science endorsement. They both continue to be lifelong learners as the field of education constantly changes! They enjoy going to conferences to learn as much as possible from others. They have been trained in Best Practices, Thinking Maps, RTI, and have attended STEM conferences.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Christy is a sponsor for the school STEM club, while Angie hosts an afterschool book club as well as tutoring ELL's. They enjoy making products that are researched based, engaging, differentiated, and Common Core compatible.
