I have taught Kindergarten for 12 wonderful and rewarding years. I have been grade level chair for 4 years and a new teacher mentor to 3 teachers new to our district. I initiated a K-2 reading program called Reading Rascals. Each month our teachers choose one student (different each month) from their class to go on an in town reading field trip to read short stories and poems to members of the community. I take these 25 students to read to firefighters, police officers, nursing home residents, and older students on other campuses, etc.
Classroom management is super important. Without it students will be unable to learn at their full potential. Once expectations have been set, the classroom should run smoothly with minimal hiccups.
It is an honor to watch a young child blossom and grow!
