Teaching has been my life for over 20 years! I have done so much since I started my career as an English teacher in Brazil! I was a Portuguese bilingual teacher for an elementary and middle school in MA. Then, my family relocated to FL where I worked as a 3rd grade teacher. For the last 4 years, I have been fortunate to live in GA, and teach first grade.
I try to cultivate a warm, positive atmosphere in my classroom. I believe that the materials I use should be attractive without being distractive. I prefer sheets that showcase my students' work rather than mine. I also believe in teaching with your "gut". Don't ever be afraid to take your lessons where your gut takes you. That is what makes each one of us unique!
Best Teacher in The Whole World - Awarded by my students year after year, and the greatest honor because it comes free of politics!
I've gotten a Waldorf Pedagogy Certificate and a BS in Science both from SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil. I have a MATSEL from Saint Michael's College in Vermont, and several college level classes from the University of Boston and Lesley College. Each one of those contributed to how I do things in my professional life today. However, the best education you will ever get is called: Get up and Go Teach. Your students, your colleagues, and good mentors are an unbelievable body of wisdom that will educate you in 2 minutes!
I am an incredibly fortunate woman. I live a happy life with my husband, two amazing daughters, and the best family and friends anyone could ever hope for. I keep life interesting by learning new things (I will knit a sweater this year.) , challenging myself to get better at tennis, and hoping that Michael BublΓ© will forgive me for butchering his music on my piano! In the past month (9/2014) I've been drawn to authors such as Jonathan Fields, Brene Brown, and Danielle LaPorte. Give them a try if you want to kindle your creative fire!!!
