TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My first year teaching was spent overseas in an island country so small that most people have never heard of it. Because of the location of this school, I had very little resources and ways to be able to get the reasons I needed. This experience led me to have to create a lot of my own resources and materials to ensure that my students were engaged, cared about what they were learning, and actually did learn what I was trying to teach them.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a firm believer in whole brain teaching. Kids need to be engaged and participating to be able to learn. Having the kids sit at their desk while I talk to them is not a good way for them to learn. Unless the are brought to care about what they are learning and you show them that you care for them as people as well, you can talk yourself blue and the child will still not retain the information that you give them.
