I am in my 29th year of teaching and I still get as excited to ignite my students’ learning as I did in my 1st year. First grade is my true love and I have taught it for 26 years. I have also taught K, 2nd and 4th and I have tutored students in grades K-12 as well.
My teaching style would be described as rigorous and fun. I set high expectations for all of my students, even those with special needs. My lessons are fun and exciting. If I can turn a lesson into a game, then both my students and I get excited. I make a connection with each child so that they know that I really care about them, and I’m there to cheer them on or hold their hand.
• In 2001, I was also nominated for the prestigious Palm Beach Dwyer Award and became one of the 5 finalists. • In 2001 I became National Board Certified for my first time and then in 2011, I recertified. Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards was a grueling process, but I learned so much about myself as a professional teacher. • In 2006 I was honored in the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

With the Wisconsin winters too cold for me, I moved to Tampa Florida in 1984. I am married to my soul mate Bob, who has whole-heartedly supported me in my teaching journey. We live in South Florida with our two loving Shih-Tzus-- Banditt and Snoopy. I am also the proud stepmother of two wonderful daughters, Chrissy and Susie. Susie has followed my footsteps in becoming an awesome elementary school teacher and Chrissy has dedicated her life to nursing and is currently working on becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
