I am a new teacher, but I have loads of other experience that I bring to my classroom. I student-taught in 2nd grade with an amazing master teacher. After graduating I taught 5th grade beginning mid-year. This year I'm teaching 4th grade (my dream grade!). I have found my home in 4th grade and truly love teaching it.
I am the sort of teacher that likes to engage her students and lead instruction in ways that are effective for every student. This means that I need to use a cross-categorical approach. This approach is one in which more attention is paid to students' learning needs than to their labels. I think this is most important for all students. I like to present content in several ways so that every student has access to learning. Learning should be fun! It is my goal to provide instruction for my students that is innovative, creative and engaging. I think that by providing such instruction students will become invested in their own learning. It won't be viewed as something they have to do, but something they want to do. My hope is that using resources like technology, manipulatives and other materials will make learning fun, and something my students are likely to engage in again.

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 14 years and have a 13 year old daughter. In my spare time (what is that anyway!?!), I like to work out, read, knit, listen to music and hike.
