I have taught Preschool for 6 years and Kindergarten for 12 years in Progressive schools in NYC. I have been creating materials for my own Kindergarten classroom for years and decided I should post them for others to use. My materials tend to be open ended enough to have various purposes - I keep things simple. I remove extra "worksheety things" like the assigned place for child's name (I prefer to let them choose where on the sheet to write their name) and I find this minimizes distraction.
Developmental approach, emergent, organic, play-based. I try to keep all the learning fun - mostly through games, songs, conversation, story, and art. Whenever possible I have the kids help me create materials - and I improve upon things that need simplifying.
