I have taught for 15 years in the Arlington Independent School District as a Special Education Language Arts teacher. I have had my own classes as well as co-taught with general education counterparts in ELA, math, science, and social studies.
I am very hands-on, energetic, and believe that students need movement and the ability to communicate with each other to stay motivated and engaged. I use the I do, we do, you do strategy as well as Kagan structures and gallery walks.
Though nominated for TOY numerous times, sadly, I have never won, however; I am never devastated because I consider each student's life that I have influenced an award in itself.
I have a BA in English and a Master of Divinity degree.
I am slowly transitioning into the world of creative writing and hope to one day be a part-time or full-time author. My books and author website will be coming within the next year.
