TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For 20 years I taught high school English and reading intervention. Now I am teaching English Language Development for 7th and 8th grade (ESL, EFL). I am enjoying developing new resources, and have been so inspired by the materials I have found and used on TPT that it's time I start sharing some of what I am developing.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I tend toward activities that provide student choice and require students to create. In developing English Language Development materials and strategies, however, I have found that students really need some time with more discrete skills. So I am developing a variety of types of activities employing a range of skills. I try to allow for and plan for various styles of learning, and since my students are English Language Learners, I try to include as many visuals as possible. I am still working on getting clip art that I can use freely, so once I begin to get a collection of images I think including visuals in my TPT products will become much easier! Over time, as I develop new materials, you should begin to see more authentic audiences and assessments included, and richer, more complex projects and study guides.
