I have taught as an adjunct instructor at the post-secondary level in the continuing education department of our local community college. Since then, I have dedicated my free time to homeschooling our children.
I call it "structure with ease". Our days are structured to ensure they are getting the most out of the day, and they are eased into their learning through real-life questions, scenarios, and discussion, followed up with lessons on the "who, what, where, when, why, & how" of the history, culture, norms, and ways of the topics we are studying.
Since my Honor Roll Days of public school, I was the recipient of the Departmental Award for Criminal Justice, chosen as one of the "Top 15" in college, along with my name appearing on the Dean's List, Chancellor's List, and graduating Cum Laude as an undergraduate. At the graduate level, I was chosen as the top graduate student for the department of Sociology and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Master's Thesis: Beyond the Rhetoric of Homeschool Socialization: An Analysis of the Parental Perspective, available at ProQuest.
1997 - Public School through 11th Grade; 1998 - GED - Graduate; 2010 - AAS - Criminal Justice; 2012 - AA - General Education; 2014 - BSIS - Criminology, Sociology, & Health; 2019 - MA - Sociology
Wife to an amazing man who literally broke his back in factory work and has been disabled since 2008. I am also a mother, daughter, neighbor, niece, and every other hat a person could wear outside of engineering... Wait, does duct tape count? It is my hope to provide enlightening and fun materials for use in public school and homeschool, while earning a little money to fund our homeschool supplies and an occasional field trip.
