With over 17 years teaching experience, I have worked with a variety of age levels (k-12) and ability levels (general education, special education, gifted and talented)! I've worked as an Elementary Classroom Teacher, Director of Education, Reading Specialist, and currently as Reading Interventionist. I find myself always searching, creating, and implementing new ways to teach reading to my students. I pride myself on excellent parent communication and discovering creative, engaging, and memorable ways not only to teach students, but to instill a lifelong love of reading and learning.
I currently work in a Montessori school, so that is where my passion lies. I see myself as a facilitator who focuses on hands-on experience. I emphasize student-centered learning. I like to cultivate a want and need for responsibility and to take the initiative for meeting the demands of various learning tasks.I think designing group activities is important in developing active learning, student-to-student collaboration and problem solving. I also believe it is important to design learning situations and activities that require student processing and application of course content in creative and original ways.
