Cathy has been teaching for over eighteen years. She has enjoyed working in a variety of educational settings: urban, suburban, and private schools. Cathy is currently working as an instructional coach in math, science, and technology at Harvest Christian Academy in Elgin, IL. Her passion is superior teaching in the classroom that engages not only the mind but also the heart of the student. She first became intrigued with the idea of emotions affecting learning when she witnessed students capable of learning shut down. While their intellect was mature enough to do the work, they hadn’t learned to process their feelings. Cathy knew that a dialogue about emotions and learning needed to take place in classrooms everywhere. This is how Get Up and Teach was born. Noelle has seventeen years of teaching experience in many different settings in grades 2-8. She currently serves as an instructional coach for Harvest Christian Academy in Elgin, IL, focusing on humanities. Noelle delights in helping students see how their emotions affect the way they learn. She first became intrigued with the effect of emotions on learning when she learned that as anxiety rises, performance decreases. Noelle uses this in her instruction and coaching to teach students and teachers to grow their comfort level with being uncomfortable.
