-Two years at K-5 public school teaching visual art, drama, and chorus to ESL, SPED, and low income students at a Title I school. -Seven years at a Pk-8 public Montessori school teaching visual art, drama, and chorus to similar population (except a much lower ESL population) which was also a Title I school.
-__o I love to have fun and be really raw with my students. Music is a passion of mine, so my elementary art classes often involve singing, beat making, dancing, rapping, or just songs I find on the web that enhance learning! ^_^ Technology is used in all of my grade levels, however much more heavily in grades 3- 8. Of course, even those forms of tech-use are differentiated. *_* ALSO... I am the only teacher in our district of nearly 60 schools that teaches art to the unique grade levels we have while also running a full chorus enrichment program (grades 1-8). Our chorus rocks, and the best part is they learn social, ELA, presentation, and teamwork skills!! #_# Lastly, I design my own units and lessons because our school runs on quarters and the others in my district follow a pacing guide that is made to work across the entire school year. Therefore, I combine multiple learning outcomes into 1-2 week units (5 units per quarter ideally) and try to squeeze it all in seamlessly! So far we are going on year 8 of this and its worked!
