I first taught PreK, ages anywhere between18 months to 4 years old, for about two years at a Montessori School. I now am with my 3rd 5th grade class on the Navajo Reservation in a little town called Leupp. I work with an incredible team as the school's only 5th grade teacher. We are a strong and successful data -driven, No Excuses University School.
I'm all about STEAM and project -based learning. My students make films every year and hold their own Film Festivals to showcase their work. I also believe in high expectations, increasing rigor, and setting goals for each individual student, myself, and our entire class. My students learn quickly that they have to "Get Grit" in order to get to the "funner" activities of the year.
I've won several grants to incorporate STEAM into my school, the most recent one was to build an entire Makerspace for all grades. With it, we received a 3-D printer and stop -motion lego set, among 15 other exciting technologies.

I was raised in a family of educators, and rebelled against my parents by not heeding to their warnings. I love that I have a job that makes waking up at 5am and commuting one hour each way completely worth it.
