We are two SLP's who have a combined 30 years of experience practicing in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. While working full time in a school-based setting, we have also both worked part time providing private practice to the preschool population. Our professional activities involve participation in a wide array of committees, councils, and professional organizations. We have each held a variety of departmental, building-wide, and district-level positions. We have also supervised a long list of high school and college-level interns. Last, but certainly not least, we have also had the privilege to participate as Field Examiners in the data collection and development of educational assessment measures prior to publication. We believe that you are never too old to stop learning! Hundreds of continuing education classes and trainings have been instrumental in keeping us current in our profession and up-to-date on a huge range of topics within the disciplines of speech-language pathology, regular and special education, and technology to name a few.
We find using a variety of teaching styles is critical in helping the students we work with to grow and expand their overall communication skills.
No “official” awards as of this point, but we consider it an honor to work with the children that parents send to us on a daily basis. Within our small community, we have received five teacher awards in support of therapy ideas we have brought to fruition. Additionally, a parent organization within our community published an article for their newsletter highlighting a new program initiative we started to support students with pragmatic language needs. Lastly, we are very appreciative and proud of the thoughtful (and unsolicited) testimonials from our wonderful parents!
Both of us have a M.S.in Speech Language Pathology and are licensed in New York State. We each also hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and NYS Teaching Certification of students with Speech and Hearing Disabilities.
