I've had very varied experience in education. I have taught for over ten years at private, charter and public schools. I've taught two-year-olds to adults and nearly everything in between. I've had the experience of literally having a ten-year-old literature textbook and a push cart and an overhead projector as resources to now working at an Apple Distinguished School. I taught at a Gardner Inspired school for five years, teaching to students' varied learning styles which has deeply shaped my style.
I like to provide interactive experiences for my students so that they don't realize they are even learning. I try to present the same information several different ways to ensure that more students can "hear" and get what they need.
Recognized by the State of Florida as a STARR teacher for outstanding student growth two years in a row. Selected as a national scholar for the National Endowment for the Arts. Selected as a state scholar by the Florida Humanities Council.
I have a B.S. in Psychology from TCU in Fort Worth, Texas as well as a Master's in Education from TCU, but then my real learning happened at a school called Life!
I've taken a varied path to education. I have always been curious and passionate about whatever I am doing. I love to travel and learn about new ideas. I read broadly and often. Most importantly, I can still think like a kid; if I'm bored, I know that they will be, too.
