I have over 13 years of experience teaching in creative, yet rigorous, learning environments. My unique background includes instruction outside of the classroom, too. I have helped develop educational programming for cultural institutions and even cruise ships.
My mission is empower scholars to unlock their academic "super powers!" Often I discuss with them how their favorite super heroes went about discovering their super powers. Either those super heroes didn't know they actually had super powers, or they didn't know how to focus or control those powers properly. Just like those super heroes, your scholars have greater strengths and abilities than they realize. They need a guide (a Professor X or a Morpheus) to help them realize their full academic potential.

I attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. I started my teaching career at Living Word Christian Center Academy. After 6 great years there, I went on to work for the Walt Disney Company in Youth Entertainment This was a dream as I was able to combine education and entertainment. After a 2 year stint with Disney, I came back on dry land to work as the Manager of Public Programs at the DuSable Museum of African American History (Chicago). This gave me the opportunity to help create and facilitate dynamic educational experiences related to the contributions of those of African descent in America. Following my time at DuSable, I went back into the classroom to continue to the business of growing brains :-) Starting with the University of Chicago Lab Schools, and now Great Lakes Academy Charter School.
Another passion of mine is to empower the determined on their weightloss/fitness journeys. Over the past 2 school years, I've lost nearly 100 pounds naturally. I blog about this through my IG (@quekayjay).
