I spent most of my life trying NOT to be a teacher but you can only run for so long when teaching is in your DNA! Teaching is more than a job for me, it forever calls me (even in the holidays!). I've been teaching since 2003 with experience in both public and private high schools in Australia (NSW and QLD). My experience includes teaching: Senior & Junior PE, Biology, Science in Practice, Junior Science, Maths and Music. I moved to New Zealand in 2015 and have been working in a primary school as a Team Leader of Grade 7 and 8. Our collaborative teaching setting makes so much sense when compared to my experience teaching in single cell classrooms! I have created my own professional development opportunities including speaking at international educational conferences that cover my passions - behaviour management, 21st century teaching pedagogy and creating engaging lessons. During the school holidays, I teach Chinese Teachers on study tours about how to be engaging and incorporate brain based learning into their classrooms. It turns out I don't really like being still!
My Teaching Recipe: A generous helping of technology, a sprinkle of adventure, a touch of the unexpected and a dollop of humour. That’s what you’ll experience in my classes! I'm passionate about designing learning experiences that engage students, sparking curiosity and igniting life long learning.

My website www.granteducation.org offers hands-on, practical advice and strategies to get your classroom humming along! I also have 3 video courses available through the Open Source platform: * Antidote to Boring Lessons * How to Build Rapport Quickly in the Classroom * Providing Highly Valuable Assessment and Feedback. In my spare time I'm a musician and do regular gigs for venues and corporate events. Life is never boring here!
