I have over 13 years of experience teaching science at various levels including, 8th grade Physical Science, High School Chemistry Honors, AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry year 1, IB Chemistry HL2, IB Chemistry SL2, and General Chemistry at the university level. I also hold a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and create professional development workshops for teachers and administrators.
My teaching, tutoring, and mentoring style varies among the learner. Most students tend to be visual and "hands-on" learners, while some benefit greatly by just listening. Within the first few minutes, I can assess the learning style of an individual student. By knowing this, I can now tailor the lesson to be the most effective for that student. I like to keep the environment peaceful, ensuring the student of my patience and desire for them to learn. I look for ways to make the subject relatable to them, which not only makes the lesson more enjoyable, but also increases the student's comprehension. It is important to me that each student feels comfortable with me so they are not intimidated to ask questions.
