TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for seventeen years, with experiences ranging from juvenile justice, teaching at a residential facility for juvenile sex offenders, to a high-achieving International Baccalaureate program. I have published articles in educational journals along with fiction and nonfiction in various literary journals.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style begins with my own continued learning. Reading and writing are essential to my being: they inform and guide every aspect of my life. I seek to bring the same process of organic inquiry into the language and literature classroom. I owe a debt of gratitude to the National Writing Project, particularly the Lake Michigan Writing Project at Grand Valley State University.
