I student taught in 1st grade for one year in Athens, GA. I taught kindergarten for three years in Colorado Springs, CO. I have taught 1st grade for three years in Lexington, KY.
I am passionate about literacy, and I love encouraging students to grow as writers and readers. I believe in guiding and walking alongside students to encourage them to take risks, then releasing them to continue bravely learning and excelling. I have honest conversations with students about their goals and progress towards those goals, creating an environment where students show ownership of their growth.

I graduated summa cum laude and with Highest Honors from the University of Georgia in 2010. I received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I received further training as a Teach For America corps member.
I was born on the gulf coast in Florida, grew up on an island off Georgia's coast, enjoyed starting my teaching career in the mountains of Colorado, and currently pass horses on rolling hills every day on the way to school in Kentucky while my husband finishes seminary. After transforming kids into readers and writers all over the country, I am still in love with the beach. :)
