I taught 4th grade for four years, 1st grade for part of another year, and subbed across various grade levels for two years while working on my Master's. These days, I'm a stay-at-home, home-educating mama to my own crew of learners, and I absolutely love what I do! I'm also a freelance writer at a popular homeschooling blog, and I have recently decided to open a TpT shop to share some of the learning games, printables, and resources that I create. My shop was briefly called Homeschool Designed, but the name has since been changed to Growing Lifelong Learners.
I value high-quality literature, hands-on and multisensory activities, learning games, art, nature study and appreciation, and time outdoors. I believe in the value of interest-based learning, adapting and individualizing instruction to the needs and abilities of the child, and teaching for mastery. Excellent curriculum and supplemental materials are important, but I also believe that much valuable learning comes from conversations, real-life experiences, free play, natural discovery and exploration, and creative endeavors.
