I taught gifted/talented students for 34 years and I truly learned as much from them as they did from me! My students filled my life with blessings, challenges, love, and rewards. Since there is no actual textbook for teaching gifted/talented classes, I had to research and construct every unit, lesson, and activity that I taught. I retired in May of 2012.
I worked toward the goal that a classroom must be set up to meet the needs of each individual child. As a teacher of gifted & talented students, I tried very hard to accommodate many learning styles at once, keep everyone on track, teach to the higher order skills, motivate, and enrich student experiences. My main objective was for students to be engaged and productive in their educational journey on a daily basis.
The satisfaction of a job well done is reward enough. I was chosen for Who's Who Among America's Teachers on four occasions, which, to me is the greatest award of all because students choose their teachers for this honor.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
I was yearbook sponsor at my school for 32 consecutive years.
