I have been teaching Family and Consumer Sciences for 7 years. I currently teach Culinary Arts, Bakery, Food Production (which runs a take and bake business), Single Survival, Child Development & Parenting, Health, middle school FACS exploratory,
I lean towards a student directed learning teaching style. I like to have by students "doing" and usually have them working on projects or preparing products.
In 2012 I was awarded A Freedoms Foundation Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education for the take and bake business run out of my FACS department.
I earned a Bachelor degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and Studies from Iowa State University. I also have a minor in Family Resource Management and an endorsement in Health. I have taken many financial education, clothing/fashion/sewing, and professional development courses since graduating from college. I consider myself to be a life long learner and am eager to take courses and participate in training to further my knowledge about Family and Consumer Sciences content.
I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, crafting, photography, technology, and horseback riding. I love spending time with my family and friends. I have a small cake business specializing in event cakes. I also teach adult education personal interest courses for a local community college.
