40+ years of school and life experiences. Even though I am now a homeschooler, I have had experience in public and private school teaching. With my ASD + multiple learning disabilities student, I am also experienced in special education and create materials that would be useful to many special education students.
Adjusts to the student... shouldn't all teaching be that way?
I've had several awards in my lifetime, but none as important as the trophy I got a few years ago for world's best mom! That is by far the biggest accomplishment I've ever had.
I had always been an average student until I hit college where I graduated with honors. I hold an associates degree in Media. I went on to major in elementary education and natural science but didn't have the chance to finish school. I went on to become a wife and mother. While my son was struggling in school, I became his aide in first grade. Although I was at the school to mainly assist my son, I also worked with several other students in his class, assisting the teachers with multiple lessons and activities. Now, I'm the head teacher at our homeschool. My son has autism and even though he is very bright he struggles with many learning disabilities that prohibit him from memorizing math facts, organizing thoughts into paragraphs and much more. All of my work is created for him. You will find much of my work broken down into simpler forms that make things easy to learn and gives me the control to build his skills and confidence while adding onto his knowledge at his pace. All of my worksheets are student approved before I post them on TpT. We hope other struggling students will benefit from our creations as much as we have.
If learning is fun, it will be remembered. If learning is dull, it flies right through the mind. I try to make the dull have meaning and purpose while still being creative and fun.
