TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 27 years. I have just left teaching middle school for 16 of those years and am back in Elementary in First Grade! So excited to be back with the little people again! :) I graduated with an M.Ed. in Elementary and Middle Grades Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida with honors. I have taught multiple subject areas and many grade levels from Pre K- 8th grade. I began teaching in elementary school, where I taught pull-out remedial classes for grades 2-5 and a section of K-1. Then I taught Pre-K for 5 years, and then Middle School, where I have been in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Now I am excited to be in Grade 1! I've also lived in many different countries. I learned to speak Spanish at the age of 9 when my family lived in Spain. My best experience, of course, has been being a mother and a grandmother to wonderful children and grandchildren. I love making products that will help teachers teach and students learn! I am currently certified in Elementary Education; Middle Grades in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies; endorsed as a Teacher Support Specialist; a Reading Specialist K-12, and in Gifted and Talented Education. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow me on Facebook at The HappyEdugator on Facebook. -------------------------------------- Follow me on Instagram at happyedugator.------------------------------------------------------ Follow me on Pinterest at HappyEdugator.-------------------------------------------------------- Follow my blog at: The HappyEdugator.----------------------------------------------

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to make everyday an unforgettable day! I make every effort to appeal to a variety of learning styles, so that students can stay focused and engaged in learning. Children should walk away from my classroom with a love for reading and a hunger for learning something new everyday.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Kappa Delta Pi International Education Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Society, Teacher of the Year 1999-2000, Teacher Support Specialist, 2010 VFW Teacher of the Year for the State of Georgia

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

M.Ed., Graduated with honors from the University of Florida. 27 total years of teaching experience, from Pre-K through 8th grade.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Although I have many students, I have two children of my own, along with two grandchildren. My daughter, 39, has a 7 year old boy. I have been teaching him his first grade year at home due to the pandemic. My daughter is a world renowned chef, and opened her own restaurant in Port Townsend, Washington. The restaurant has managed to stay afloat during the lockdowns. My son is 38 and is currently working as a CNC programmer, and also lives in Seattle. I am enjoying being the grandmother of his sweet boy, too, who is in fifth grade! I relocated from Georgia to Seattle to be close by them! My husband and I love the outdoors, and we have two dogs: a lab mix and a border collie/dachshund mix, who are both spoiled rotten. We plan on retiring someday in Florida and traveling during the hot summer months. If you find a typo or something I need to fix in a resource, please contact me via Q and A, and let me know before leaving a negative rating. I will try to fix mistakes within 48 hours, and usually much sooner.
