I have been teaching Kindergarten (Gr 0/R as we say in South Africa) for 4 years and I am finally receiving my Diploma in Grade R teaching at the end of this year. For the first 3 years as a Kindergarten teacher I was only an assistant in the class with my mentor teacher whilst I commenced with my studies. At the start of 2018, my final year of studies, I finally got offered my very own class. It has been one roller coaster of a year but I have loved every minute and I learning something new every day!
I believe that every child is unique and that children learn, grow and develop at their own pace, in their own way and that's okay! My opinion on education for young minds is that learning needs to fun and flexible in order for children to add meaning to what they learn. I enjoy allowing learners the opportunity to make their own findings. I encourage them to explore, be creative and challenge themselves in all that they do. To me the most beautiful and rewarding thing to witness as a teacher is to see how children GROW whilst in your care.
I am 2 months away from receiving my Diploma in Grade R teaching and I am registered to start my bED Foundation Phase Degree in January 2019 to be completed in December 2021.
