This is my eighth year as an elementary school counselor! I've had the opportunity to start my career as a traveling counselor, shared between three schools. However, in the last six years, I've been able to be at one school and focus all my attention on my students, families, and staff at my current school.
I would describe my teaching style when I'm doing guidance lessons or small groups as literature driven, technology savvy, with a big dose of silliness and fun (of course with fun fonts). I feel that we are lucky to have the time we get in the classroom and we, as counselors, should make it interactive and use the time effectively.
I working on this... give me a year or two! :)
I graduated from William Jewell College with a BA in Psychology and minor in History. From there, I went straight to the University of Missouri-Kansas City to get my MA in Guidance and Counseling, School Emphasis, K-12 Certified.
I am a member of the Missouri School Counselor Association, Greater Kansas City School Counselor Association, and American School Counselor Association. I like to associate, it seems!!
