I am in my 20th year teaching- 18 years teaching 7th grade Social Studies at a two time National Schools to Watch Award winning school in New Jersey. I have also taught 6th grade Social Studies, middle school language arts and science, and high school history. I have taught Anti-Bullying classroom meetings as part of the Olweus Bullying prevention program for the past 10 years. I also helped implement a Genius Hour program for my grade level and have served as grade level leader. I have written the social studies curricula for my grade level for the past 18 years.
My teaching style is based on giving my students fun, engaging projects and activities and making history come alive for them. I am passionate about history and love seeing students who were uninterested in social studies being excited about learning.

I love teaching and learning about history. I live on a small old- fashioned homestead with my wife and family. We have sheep, dairy goats, chickens, rabbits, bees, pigs, an orchard and large garden. We use permaculture principles and organic practices for everything on our farm. I build everything on our farm using only hand tools (hand saws, bit and braces, planes) and am learning to blacksmith. I also have and use a scythe for mowing. I love learning about and using methods that have been around for thousands of years! Check out my farm at www.idyllwildefarm.weebly.com
