I designed this Scrabble-inspired Word Wall poster for my High School English classroom. I then use colored cardstock to post our vocabulary words around this poster. I had a local printing company print it for me as a 15 inch square poster.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 12 years of experience in high schools: 4 years as an English teacher exclusively, and 8 years as a Vice Principal and English teacher. I love inspiring students to become better readers and writers as I build relationships with them.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus on building relationships with my students. I have learned that when they know you care, they are willing to follow you even through your craziest lesson. I am currently teaching in a No Excuse model charter school after spending 12 years in a private Christian school. What I've learned in both situations with incredibly different student populations is that teenagers are teenagers. They need our love and to know that we believe in them!
