TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Having worked as a classroom teacher with both primary and intermediate learners, I have developed a strong background in instructional practice set to nurture the needs and nuances of varied learners. Currently, I serve as a Teacher Leader in my school district, which allows me to partner with community leaders, administrators, parents, colleagues, and students alike. In addition to these efforts, I teach Master’s level education students in the areas of Reading and Language Arts, as well as Educational Technology.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I strive to keep my practice consistently student-focused; my mission to develop both high-achieving and caring children means that learning and growing can reach beyond the confines of the school’s classrooms and prepare youngsters to become active and successful members of their community and the world around them. With a creative, collaborative, and dedicated approach, I am eager to share some of my “tried and true” resources on the TeachersPayTeachers forum and gather additional tools from this talented online community of teaching colleagues!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am published in NAEYC’s Voices of Practitioners based on research conducted in my own first grade classroom, focusing on the benefits of incorporating interactive, multimedia technology in the primary classroom.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have Bachelors degrees in English (with a concentration in composition) and Psychology, which parlayed into my focus on both the academic and social-emotional development of children in my teaching certification program. In addition to a certification in Elementary Education (Grades K-6), I also hold endorsements in English (Grades 7-12) and Supervision/Administration. My Masters degree is in Reading and Language Arts K-12 and my Education Specialist degree is in Educational Leadership. I hold degrees and certifications from the University of Saint Joseph and the University of Connecticut.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, as well as being creative (singing, writing, dancing). My husband and I also enjoy working on our TeachersPayTeachers store together in our spare time; the ideas come from me and much of the illustrations are his original work, so it's a fun partnership to have!
