TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I worked for five years as a public middle school art teacher. I also spent several summers teaching art and craft lessons to K-12 students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus all of my art lessons on engaging students' critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. I like to give them freedom to make independent choices about the creation of their final project, within the perimeters of the assignment.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Kalamazoo College: Honors in Education.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

BA in Art from Kalamazoo College. Visiting Student in Fine Art Photography at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Sous Chef de Patisserie Diploma from Culinary Institute LeNotre.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I took a break from classroom teaching to pursue the personal goals of attending pastry school and starting a family. Currently, I am spending days with my 5 month old son, and I can't wait until he's ready to be up to his little elbows in paint and clay!
