With two teachers as parents, it was inevitable that I would become a teacher myself! I have explored many aspects of education. I have studied alternative methods of education (Waldorf, Montessori), worked in a public charter school, and now put my heart and soul into teaching fourth grade in a small, rural public school.
I take a "hearts-on" approach to education! More than just hands-on, hearts-on engages students where they are most passionate, through academic choice, empathy, and lots of opportunities to ask questions and take chances. I believe strongly in using Responsive Classroom techniques, which informs many of the products in my TPT store. I am a constructivist, and I am inspired by inquiry and project-based learning. I follow a balanced literacy approach to literacy instruction and am unabashedly obsessed with Lucy Calkins and the Units of Study.
