TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a National Board Certified Teacher (Class of 2012) in the certification area of Middle Childhood Generalist. I am entering my 7th year as an educator, 6 of which have been in Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland. I have also achieved my Master's Degree in the area of Classroom Climate and Management and hold my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a certificate in Urban Education. The first 5 years of my career were taught in Title 1 settings.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a strong advocate of Brain Based Learning, and have done extensive Master's Coursework in that area. I also believe strongly in cooperative learning and teamwork. I make my lessons fun and engaging and allow my students to have a variety of choices in how they submit their final products. This is how I differentiate my instruction and create authentic assessments. I am a firm believer in rubrics that allow students to self-assess during the process and include them in most, if not all of my lessons.
