This activity is a great one for getting kids up and moving to collect data in a frequency table, which can then be graphed in a dot plot. Students will calculate mean, median, and range of the data.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This school year will complete my 19th year of teaching. I taught 7th grade math for 16 years and have just begun my 3rd year of teaching 6th grade math. The most valuable lesson I have learned in my years of teaching that in order for kids to learn math, they must believe in me as their teacher.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style involves a well thought out balance between hands on and traditional strategies based on the needs of my students. There is always a strong priority to reinforce and build on the basics. Many years of trial and error have definitely allowed me to develop and implement strategies that really allow my students to take ownership in their learning.
