Hebrew teacher K-8 Multiple Subjects Teacher Teacher, 2008-present
After spending over 15 years in the Jewish education sector, the only Hebrew literacy resources available to us were made of lined drills. Students were expected to read word after word, and line by line. I knew there had to be a better way. In the midst of the pandemic, I created Alef Bet Games. I began integrating Hebrew reading practice and vocabulary games into the worksheets. This style of game-based learning has proven to assist in memorization and a deeper understanding of classroom material. Offering Hebrew teaching materials in an "a la carte'' style fashion allows teachers the luxury to differentiate their instruction by picking and choosing what is best for their students. Moreover, because the material is designed to create social opportunities, in turn, classmates organically forge stronger connections among peers. This style of learning has proven to assist in memorization and a deeper understanding of classroom material. As Hebrew school attendance rates continue to decline, teachers want access to fresh material, rather than teaching to a book. Yet, finding them has been an ongoing struggle. Alef Bet Games fills this void. Offering Hebrew teaching materials in an "a la carte'' style fashion allows teachers the luxury to differentiate their instruction by picking and choosing what is best for their students. Moreover, because the material is designed to create social opportunities, in turn, classmates organically forge stronger connections among peers. These games have been developed with the expertise of multiple-subjects teachers with over 15 years of experience in the Jewish education sector.
