TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching secondary math for the past 12 years. I have taught everything from 7th grade math through Pre-Calculus. I have also worked with student-teachers as a college edTPA evaluator. My greatest pleasure as an educator is being able to educate and help fellow teachers. I have spent time as an Math Specialist and have led numerous professional development sessions specifically related to interactive math activities and the common core standards.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is student-centered. I create activities and plan lessons to make sure the students have plenty of time to discover math concepts and to practice in unique and fun ways. This makes the learning more meaningful and helps with retention. The students are encouraged to work in groups and use their peers as a resource. As they say "two heads are better than one". I make sure to incorporate higher level questioning in order to challenge my students. I feel that all students can learn math and that they can achieve at high levels.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

This may sound cheesy, but my greatest accomplishments as a teacher are when my students learn especially those that have been struggling.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics: Secondary Teaching and Masters Degree in Middle Level Mathematics.
