Alisha Hejka has spent 9 wonderful years teaching within the Elementary Education setting. She has experience as a 4th, 1st, and 6th grade teacher in both public, private, and charter schools in the USA as well as a Standard 3 and 4 teacher in Botswana, Africa. She holds a Teacher of the Year award in Michigan and has local, international, and grad school training in the International Baccalaureate (specifically the Primary Years Programme). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mike Hejka has spent 11 years teaching nearly demographic. He currently serves as Director of Music in a school in Michigan. Mr. Hejka has been teaching music, in various formats, for 18+ years. Throughout his career he has consistently brought enthusiasm, high-expectations, and an unwavering love of music to his students. In this time, he has taught K-6 general music, K-12 choir, 4-12 band, 5-6 strings/orchestra, conducting, music theory, and music appreciation.
We strongly believe in providing rich learning experiences for all children within a safe, stimulating and challenging learning environment. Children must fully enjoy learning therefore we strive to ensure that my ways of teaching are fun, exciting and encourage them to achieve their very best. We consider high expectations to be crucial in helping children to become confident, independent learners; individuals who will become supportive, considerate citizens and contribute fully within their community. With compassionate guidance we hope to inspire children to become learners for life by nurturing their academic and personal aspirations.

Alisha holds a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with a focus on language arts. She has completed significant IB (International Baccalaureate) global training in Jordan, Botswana, Zambia, and the United States. Alisha has received her certificate in IB Curriculum focusing specifically on PYP (Primary Years Programme) and is nearing the end of her International Curriculum Master's Degree.
This pair of inspirational teachers bring together an intense passion for education and a commitment to fostering a creative, musical, principled, open-minded, knowledgeable, risk-taking, caring, thinking, reflective, inquiring, balanced, communicative, and fun educational setting. Mike is music educator of all ages. He is the founder of, and director for, the Zebra Indoor Percussion ensemble, a competitive indoor percussion ensemble that provides a positive, constructive outlet for 7-12th grade students to continue developing as musicians and high character people. He also serves as Front Ensemble Caption Head for AXIS Indoor Percussion of Tiffin, Ohio and Percussion Coordinator for Wayne Memorial High School. In addition to his marching band and winter percussion ensembles, he teaches full-time as Director of Music at a wonderful school in Pontiac, Michigan. And finally, he is also the Founder and Executive Director for the Downriver Day of Percussion, an organization with the focus of creating opportunities musical exploration - in all its forms - for ALL STUDENTS, without the prohibitive costs normally associates with such incredible opportunity. Mike holds memberships with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Mu Phi Epsilon, MSBOA, MSVMA, MENC, and the Percussive Arts Society .
