TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked with students and teachers at every grade level PreK - 12 since 1993. For the last 12 years, I have focused my practice on gifted education with a particular focus on creative and critical thinking via Language Arts study. My personal passion is the study of poetry and literature, whether in preparation for the AP Lit exam or simply to gain a greater appreciation for the discipline.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that the creative approaches to teaching and assessment that I've learned as a G/T teacher are best practice for student of all abilities. The greatest threat to quality education is a disengaged teacher and, thereby, disengaged students. I write original, creative lessons that are grounded in high interest activities and texts so that both teachers and students are interested in the learning process.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Last year (2017-18 school year) 81% of my my AP Lit students earned college credit via the AP exam, as compared to the national average of 47.4% I was the G/T campus coordinator at 2 elementary school, 1 middle school and 1 high school.
