I have been teaching Biology for 15 years and AP biology for 12 (add in a few years of AP Environmental Science as well). I have taught all levels of biology - credit recovery bio, regular bio, honors bio, and AP bio. I try to use my years of identifying misconceptions and weave them into my assignments so that my current students are better off because of what I've learned from my past students.
My teaching methods have evolved over the years as I collect student feedback. I have developed my own way of teaching that does not include notes, and instead I build in think-pair-share questions throughout my ppts to have my students stop, discuss, and process the information. More recently, with the addition of technology in the classroom, I have started to create self-checking assignments or "escape rooms" that use locked google forms to give students immediate feedback on their understanding. I find that it is a great way to formatively assess students.

I am a wife and mom to two young boys, besides teaching, I love to spend time outdoors and if I'm reading a good book out in nature, I'm even happier :-)
