TEACHING EXPERIENCE

At the secondary level: Directing Writing Center, English, ESL. At the higher ed level: Writing tutor, introductory composition, ESL.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style is about building authentic connections and realistic skills. Students develop what I call a "toolbelt of strategies" that is applicable in their lives, careers, or other courses. Students also engage with text, grammar, and writing in modern and meaningful ways in order to see English as something useful and relatable. My research focus is in edutainment (specifically educational television, YouTube, and video) and linguistic diversity, inclusion, and acculturation (adapting methods to be ESL inclusive).

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Tutor of the Year. Academic Honors in English and Writing.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Currently pursuing M.A. in TESOL and Linguistics. B.S. in Secondary English Education with a concentration in Literature. Teaching English as a Second Langauge licensure as minor.
