TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught creative arts with a focus on Hip Hop for 7 years now. I have taught from Pre-K to High school level. Youth all ages love hip hop and can be used equally in all ages to educate. Pre-K and K I taught the children Hip Hop nursery rhymes about the birth of Hip Hop and used rhymes about values on how to treat each other. Elementary, Middle School and High School we used Hip Hop to educate them on history and social issues. (issues would vary based on issues each age group faced and their grade level.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As an educator I believe in learning with the youth, from the youth and for the youth. The more I learn the better an educator I become. As we write songs we do individual research and share information with the class. Youth write lyrics of what they have learned and how they feel about the subject we are studying. We all learn from each other and discuss each perspective. We collectively write and record a song and shoot a music video to share.
