I have taught for 10 wonderful years at the same school! I began my adventure in 1st grade for one year, then after my 1st week of my second year in 1st grade I was asked to move to Pre-K over the Labor Day holiday! It sounded like fun so I said YES!!! Best decision ever! Pre-K was so much fun the 4 years I taught it! Then my heart called me to Kinder where I have been for the past five years! It's always easier to teach when you have an AMAZING team to work with! I am the Kinder team leader and love going to work everyday!
First and foremost, I make an individual connection with each student and find something that they are really interested in. Then I use that connection to make them excited about learning. I see myself as a delegator, I like to give them directions and ideas and watch what they can create, explore, and research on their own. I feel this makes them more excited about learning and more interested in the outcome. Much more exciting than having me sit and talk at them all day!!! My classroom has a lot of I do, we do, then you do going on at all times. I like to give them the foundation they need, watch them support each other, and then watch them fly on their own!!!
I received my 10 year pin this year! I was also selected as the digital ambassador for my campus!
I went to Sam Houston State University and received a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (EC-4 Generalist). Shortly after graduating I took the certification test to become ESL certified! I will soon be working toward getting my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership!!!
My husband works in the same district with me in the technology department (this may be why I am the go to person on my campus when something techie is broken! LOL! Usually I can fix it, but if I can't they know someone is a phone call away!) he is the network administrator. We also have two adorable and energetic children ages 3 and 7. They keep us on our toes!!!
