I have been teaching since 2005. I taught second grade for ten years, third grade for six years, spent a year in fifth, and now I'm in fourth grade. These upper elementary kids have my heart!
I am a passionate educator dedicated to creating engaging lessons for my students utilizing 21st century learning strategies. I believe strongly in differentiated, small group instruction and using formative assessments to guide my teaching. I also work hard to foster positive relationships with students (and their families) to create a safe and welcoming classroom environment.

I have a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary/Middle Education, with licenses to teach grades 1-8 general education and K-12 and English as a Second Language. I also earned my Masters degree in Teaching and Learning, with my focus being on building classroom community.
In addition to teaching, I am a wife and a busy mom to three crazy kiddos! I am a HUGE fan of hippos (hence the name of my store!), and I love playing hockey. Check out my blog for teaching ideas, freebies, and more! Hippo Hooray for Second Grade!
