This is my 4th year teaching high school American History from 1877-Present and I'm pretty sure I'm still trying to "get it right." It will be my first year teaching 8th grade American History 1491 to 1877 and APUSH.
I have gone to project based learning in my classroom and I have found that it engages the students and they remember more and look forward to coming to class because they just never know what I have up my sleeve. I'm always experimenting and using my "minions" as my test subjects. Sometimes it goes well and others it a flop but I can guarantee my students are always learning!
Teacher of the Month: April 2012 - VLT Academy, Cincinnati, OH March 2013 - VLT Academy, Cincinnati, OH March 2014 - Crestline HS, Crestline, OH
I received my undergrad degree in Mass Communications from The Ohio State University and worked in radio promotions for 5 years. After some re-evaluation of my life, I decided to return to school to obtain my education degree and I did that in 2009 at the University of Akron where I did a 2 month student teaching experience with the Department of Defense in Naples, Italy.
I live my fat cat and we are just truckin' along in life. He thinks I work too hard and some days so do I but the kids enjoy my class and I enjoy what I do. In my off time I like to read, travel, hang out with friends, play softball, support the kiddos in their extra-curricular activities, and generally be a lazy bum (when it suits me).
