TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Sixteen years teaching at the high school level. Primarily United States History and Government, as well as Advanced Placement sections. Experience with Modern World History as well.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My philosophy of teaching focuses on building three major skills for my students:

1. Critical Thinking - using multiple perspectives and implementing primary sources.
2. Improved Writing - focusing primarily on analytical writing.
3. Building Public Speaking Skills

In my opinion, content plays a secondary role in the classroom -- learning the who/what/when/where means nothing if a student can't use the information effectively and apply it to other facets of his/her life.
