Hello! Welcome to History with Mrs. S.! I teach eighth grade U.S. History to English-speaking students and ENL (ESL) students. I have been teaching for 9 years, and prior to teaching U.S. History, I taught Spanish for 6 years in an elementary/middle school setting. Out of the five sections I currently teach, three are integrated classrooms, so I also teach bilingually. Many of my resources are available in both English and Spanish which means whether you teach ENL, U.S. History or have integrated classrooms like myself, you can easily adapt and modify my products to suit the needs of your students individually yet keep them on the same topic with similar activities!
In each of my day-to-day lessons, I aim to teach my students the following three things: - History - Current Events - Life Skills and Lessons I encourage opinion, debate and discussion, and critical thinking daily. Despite my curriculum being based around THE PAST, I believe it is a history teacher's job to also relate the past to the PRESENT, so students can grow to have an educated background on what is going on in their world today. In doing so, we are preparing them with the knowledge they need to become informed, knowledgeable, and aware citizens of the next generation.
