I have taught children in various capacities from pre-school through high school over the past 38 years. While teaching provided the means to support myself and my three children, it also provided me with something far more important. It gave me a feeling that I was doing something to make society and maybe even the world a better place. I began my career in education, teaching 2nd grade for five years then spent 8 years as the program director for a preschool and daycare of over 200 children during the time I had my own children and launched them in public school. I returned to public schools as an elementary librarian, then became the library media specialist for a high school and returned to elementary school as a library media specialist until I retired from Kansas public schools in 2014. I was then fortunate to have an opportunity to work as a K-12 library media specialist for two years in Istanbul, Turkey.
I have an adventurous spirit which I try to integrate with innovative special events and themes in my lesson plans. I am also proficient and am experienced in using classroom technologies such as smart boards, document cameras, and digital video recorders which are often included in my lessons.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University, KS; and my Masters in Library Science from the same institution.
Teaching and traveling in numerous foreign countries the past few years has given me lots of practice in quickly assessing unfamiliar situations, being flexible yet efficient; and communicating in numerous ways to reach consensus for goal accomplishment. During my time teaching in Istanbul, Turkey and since resigning from that library position, I have traveled and lived for short period of times in over nine countries. I hope the experience of traveling, living and communicating in these countries helps me to present more creative and innovative lessons for others to use.
